Product Description
MC Silicone TA01 Thixotropic agent is a thickener which can be used
to thicken condensation and addition-crosslinking silicones. In
this way, the viscosity of a previous castable silicone can be
increased and a spreadable, or even spatulable, silicone can be
produced. The silicone thickener is ideal for all those who
generally work with pourable, thin-walled silicones. The
Thixotropic agent offers an excellent alternative for unusual
projects that require highly viscous silicones; instead of buying a
series of viscous silicones, you can mix the short-term, viscous
silicones themselves.
The Thixotropic agent is used wherever silicones are present on
vertical surfaces, e.g. walls, ceilings, or furniture. The
thickener also makes it possible to dispense with the production of
silicone molds, as the thickening ensures that silicone coatings
are applied to larger objects, which are then supported with
support molds before pouring.

Processing and Instructions
Mixing
We recommends that the catalyzed material be tested on a small area
of the mold prior to use. Thixotropic Agent TA01 should be added at
0.5-2% by weight to the material to be modified. Material should be
mixed in a clean, compatible metal or plastic container. The volume
of the container should be 3-4 times the volume of the material to
be mixed. This allows for expansion of the siloxane material as it
de-aeration.
Mix thoroughly by hand or with mixing equipment while minimizing
air entrapment until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. This will
occur when the material takes on a uniform color with no visible
striations. The material should stand for 2 – 3 minutes for the
effect of the thixotropic agent to be realized.
Storage and shelf life
This product is best when used within 24 months from date of
manufacture.
Product should be stored in its original, unopened container in an
environment that does not exceed 30 °C (86 °F).
Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily
mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case, the
properties required for the intended use should be checked for
quality assurance reasons.
